Bring Your 3D Models to Life with *New* 3D Animations in PowerPoint

Hey Insiders!

My name is Aimee, and I'm a PM in the Office Graphics team. I’m excited to announce five new 3D animations in PowerPoint that can bring your 3D models to life. These are fantastic for exploring models, elevating your storytelling skills, and building even more immersive presentations.

3D Animations has begun rolling out to Windows Desktop Office 365 subscribers for Insiders Slow on Version 1712 (Build 8827.2082).

Getting started

Applying these new 3D animations is easy and familiar.

  1. In PowerPoint, insert any 3D model you would like to animate

  1. Navigate to the Animation Ribbon. With your 3D model selected, the five new 3D animations will be available in the Animations Gallery. Go ahead and select one!

  1. Adjust the direction, intensity and other parameters of your 3D animation in the Effect Options dropdown, located in the Animations Ribbon

    The 3D animations are still available in 1801, as I have confirmed on my current machine running the latest Insider Fast build. As you now have a thread in the production PowerPoint forums, that will be the best venue to resolve this issue.

    is it possible that the "3D Animations" feature appeared in 1712 has been removed in 1801?

    I've updated from 1711 to 1801 without passing through 1712 but I don't get dedicated animations for 3D models.

    I can only import 3D models like in 1711.

    Odd. Do you have an Animation tab? I've got an earlier version and it's appearing here (Win32 - 1801 9001.2102).
