New! 3D in Office now available to Office Insiders on Windows Desktop

Really great feature, thanks a lot!!

I have two "small" suggestions or problems:

I try to build an earth rotating animation. For this, I found a nice model, but:

1.) for rotating with the mouse, it would be great if I could fix the rotation axis, that means that I can only rotate horizontially or at a give angle. Perhaps with pressing SHIFT while dragging with the mouse

2.) is there a chance of an endless rotation? I tried to use morph with 4 slieds and it works fine. But first, the rotation slows down every quarter rotation, and second, it stops after 360°. I'd like to rotate endlessly

Thanks for your feedback. We recently introduced a 3D animations feature which may help with your second question. You can read about the new feature here. The feature is first being released to Insiders, but should be available in an upcoming update to O365 Subscribers as well. I've also taken a note about your first idea.

Hi, would really like to test it, but although the build is right, I am not getting the insert 3D model option. It is actually there, but does not show up (I see it when I say customize ribbon). If I try to push the command to a new group, it is disabled all the time.

Any hint?

Thanks for your question. At this point, 3D model support is available to Office 365 subscribers. There are two things that might prevent you from seeing the 3D feature:

(1) If you are using Office at work, new features are available through the First Release program which your organization needs to opt into. Organizations that are not part of the First Release program will release new features at a slower rate. You can learn more here:

(2) New features are only available to Office 365 subscribers and not Office 2016 perpetual license holders. Start PowerPoint and select File > Options > Account . Check whether your account type is the Subscription Product.

Hello,

If we can be fond of this new features in Office for Desktop, what about Office Online?

As OneDrive and Sharepoint are able to preview 3D models on line, is it planned to get this working also for Powerpoint?

And again could it be possible to have an option to keep 3D content "Live" in SlideShow mode?

even if it's great to have "morph transition" from one slide to another, is there a way to get "live 3D viewer" in presentation/slideshow mode?

on the other hand, when Powerpoint Online will be able to play 3D as well?

We are using Surface Hubs (84") for design reviews and it could be really valuable to play with 3D models while the Review on such a device.
