I am using the new outlook desktop app and this no longer adds capitals to a sentence even tho everything is turned on. I believe I'm not the first to raise this. can this please be fixed or can i be pointed in the direction of how to correct this.

    Kathy,

Thank you for the warm welcome.

I understand that this is still a new update but its a bit disappointing that a simple useful feature didn't make it to the preview of the new version. i have added the answers to your questions below.

    1. Yes, i am referring to the auto-capitalization of the first letter in a sentence.
    2. I'm sure it is to do with the auto-correct but i cant find this feature in the New Outlook or the settings to adjust this.
    3. This is happening in all messaged in the New Outlook weather newly composed or if replying or forwarding existing messages.
    4. This feature worked perfectly in the old Outlook.

I think i will be going back to the old Outlook as its a time saving useful feature that i am finding hard to live without. Hope this gets resolved quickly as i do like the look and user interface of the new Outlook.

    Hello Neil Kennett,

Welcome to Microsoft Office Community. Thank you for sharing your concern with us today and we hope that all is well.

We understand that you wanted to turn on capitalization in composing email in New Outlook as you can no longer add capitalization in every new sentence you add. As we know New Outlook is still a preview. Meaning it is being tested by Insider, like you, and a working feature on old Outlook set up is usually working on New Outlook too with the exception of interface change. Thus, those features that are expected to work with issues now on new Outlook is best to be reported to the feedback team for fix. Before we conclude that this feature - autocapitalization of first letter in sentence is an issue that needs to be addressed by the feedback team, we would like to ask for few questions.

    1. Please correct me, are you referring to autocapitalization of first letter in sentence?
    2. Does if have anything related to this AutoCorrect format too? Please see picture below.
    3. Can you please confirm if this issue happening on newly composed message in New Outlook?
    4. More importantly, can you please confirm if this auto capitals work if you switch back to old Outlook set up?

We look forward to your response.

If you have other clarifications about this matter, you can get back to us by replying to this post.

    Sincerely,

    Kathy A.
