Insider Fast: Our initial 64-bit release of Office 2016 for Mac is now live!

Hello Office for Mac Insiders,

We have released the first drop of a fully 64-bit version of Office 2016 for Mac to the Insider Fast channel! The update number is 15.25 (160630). I do encourage Insider Fast users to install this update and give it a test. We want to know about any problems you encounter as soon as possible, so that we can make sure we address them before the official release.

This is a huge update for Office and something that we have been working towards for a very long time. I’m thrilled to finally have it available for testing!

The Insider Fast channel is intended for early adopters and those wanting the earliest view into upcoming releases, and the 64-bit version will progress to the Insider Slow channels and to widespread publication over time. I can’t speak to a specific date for that wide release for you yet, so please send us your feedback as soon as you can.

    Hello,

    Unfortunately I had to downgrade Excel today back to the 32 bit version. For existing files, I was seeing a number of odd behaviors and file corruptions including cells not calculating or calculating to the wrong value, files getting corrupted and no longer opening, etc.

    I am staying on 15.25 for the other products because all are working well with very few issues. In Outlook, I see the same issue as previously reported by someone else where if you do a search from the inbox in the 'Search this Folder' box, you get results for all subfolders, not just 'this Folder'. I actually kind of like it to be honest, but not sure that is the intended behavior...

    I wish I could upload the problem Excel files for your analysis, but unfortunately I cannot due to confidential information.

    Would you kindly contact me directly at "eriksc@microsoft.com" -- we're hearing from a number of places about crashes in Excel when saving but cannot reproduce the problem here, so we definitely want to work with you to track this down.

    Crash with Excel! Overtime I try to save ANY file, Excel just closes and I lose all the updates. Summarising, I am not able to work since I applied the build 15.25 - 160630.

    I had to grab an old windows machine to work on the spreadsheets.

    Any suggestions? Any help available?

    Mine was in an pre-existing spreadsheet.  Did not happen in a new sheet as per your instructions.

    Now I have a cell in the spreadsheet which I can only type a value.  Any formula I type in gives me a #DIV/0, but if I put the same formula in the next door cell, it works fine.  Seems like it has corrupted the cell in the sheet somehow.

    Steve and Buntab1, I cannot reproduce this problem. Can you give us more precise repro steps so that we can try to debug the issue? Something like:

       1) Create a new Excel workbook

       2) Type "=RAND()" in cell B1

       3) Grab the fill handle and drag-fill B1 over to D1

       4) Grab the fill handle again and drag-fill B1:D1 down to B30:D30

       5) Type "=AVERAGE(B1:D1)" into cell A1

       6) Select the fill handle and drag-fill down to A30

    That's what I did, and I do not see any #DIV/0 errors. Please do help us track this down.
