Paste image with the shortcut (CTRL + V) not working

Hi,

I am unable to paste a image (from ex Word) into PowerPoint, but only with the shortcut. I can paste it with the right click menu etc.

It plays the default Windows error sound, displays no error though.

(I've already tried uninstalling, repairing, switching bit versions, you name it, everything.)

I'm able to use it though in the Office Insider build. But without doing any other actions, it looks like this:

As you can see there's a small invisible picture/square thing.

This only seems to happen with big pictures though. This is the picture I was trying to paste in the screenshot:

Anyone knows why this odd behavior happens, or how to resolve it?

EDIT: See my post below for the other issue. It seems that you need a few clicks to paste a jpg over a png.

Also, it seems the issue is solved in the insider build. Hopefully they will roll it out to the main branch soon.

    Hi,

    I'm using 16.0.6568.2025.

    So I just tried to pastethe picture in Word, and it actually behaved the same way.

    This happens because it's a .jpg. The size doesn't seem to matter. The other one is a .png.

    I was copying it from a webbrowser in this instance, but when I wasn't using the insider build I couldn't paste from other office apps either (like word).

    Provide the following information for investigating this issue.

    1. What is the version number of Office?

    Verify the same from File> Account> Under Office Updates.

    1. From where you are trying to paste the image? Is it from Internet explorer to PowerPoint/ Between Office applications?

    I'm not sure why this would be, but I get the same or similar result if I do Insert | Picture and supply the URL to the photo in PPT.

    However if I save the picture to my hard drive, PPT imports it w/o complaint.

    That at least gives you a workaround.
