Hi Insiders,

My name is Constance, and I’m a program manager on the Office Graphics team. We're excited to announce the availability of a new collection of icons. Browse through more than 500 icons to find one that suits your purpose, and then edit its fill and outline to match a theme.

Check it out!

Availability

If you receive builds of Office 2016 for Windows through the Office Insiders Slow or Fast level, you can now add icons into any Word document, Excel workbook, PowerPoint presentation or Outlook email.

Get started

In any app, click Insert > Icons:

Scenarios to try

Insert icons

  1. Click Insert > Icons.
  2. From the Insert Icon dialog box, search for an icon, or browse by category.
  3. Insert the icon into your document, presentation, workbook, or e-mail message.

Edit Icons

  • After you insert an icon, use the formatting options on the Graphics Tools tab to change the icon’s fill or outline, or to add a visual effect such as glow or shadow.

Let us know what you think!

Thanks,

The Office Graphics Team

Thanks MMJDallas.  Yes, that makes sense now.  I am on the same version as you are now.  Hopefully, this is sorted during the next update then!

In Outlook, go to File, Account Info, you can see the Product Info listed.  I have Version 1708 (Build 8431.2153).  We logged onto a PC we knew had not received the Office updates last week, it had version .2213.  We are government and on the delayed schedule, so it's hard for us to know when this was changed and I can't find anything online stating it was.  I presume it's a bug as it's in Word, but not in Outlook...and they talk about it being available in various places.  I hope that helps.

When I go to my Outlook, I go to File, Office Account, then I see what version I have.  So Product Information, version 1708, Build 8431.2153.  We opened up a PC that had not received the latest round of Office updates, and that version was 2213, and it had the Insert Icons available.  So the last update, whether intentional or not, hosed that option.

I hope that helps you troubleshoot a bit?  We can't resolve it past that, so either Microsoft fixes the issue, or we just no longer have that option available to us.

Thanks, but I'm not sure what that means, or what I am to do with that piece of information.  Please help.
