NEW! Insert Icons in Office 2016

Hi Insiders,

My name is Constance, and I’m a program manager on the Office Graphics team. We're excited to announce the availability of a new collection of icons. Browse through more than 500 icons to find one that suits your purpose, and then edit its fill and outline to match a theme.

Availability

If you receive builds of Office 2016 for Windows through the Office Insiders Slow or Fast level, you can now add icons into any Word document, Excel workbook, PowerPoint presentation or Outlook email.

Get started

In any app, click Insert > Icons:

Scenarios to try

Insert icons

  1. Click Insert > Icons.
  2. From the Insert Icon dialog box, search for an icon, or browse by category.
  3. Insert the icon into your document, presentation, workbook, or e-mail message.

Edit Icons

  • After you insert an icon, use the formatting options on the Graphics Tools tab to change the icon’s fill or outline, or to add a visual effect such as glow or shadow.

    I know . . .unfortunately we cannot get the "humid" part out of the "sunny"; but for this Miami resident feels like home!! (LOL)

    Looking forward to a solution ASAP; I appreciate your efforts.

    The "sunny" part of "sunny and humid" sounds nice right now. We've had a rainy and dismal February here in Redmond!

    Many thanks for the additional information, I've forwarded it on. Rest assured that the right people are looped in and actively investigating. I will keep you posted on progress...

    Hi Anneliese; thank you for getting back to me.

    I feel a little better knowing that it is not an issue with my computer, however I am still experiencing the same issue (and some new ones explained below).

    I tried to work it around with PLAN B by downloading icons and images on my hard drive and then copy an paste them into a Word document; just to find out a "new issue".

    After saving an closing the document, while reopening all images dissapeared showing only a blank box with the following error: "The image part with relationship ID rld7 was not found in the file" (see image below)

    Then I tried PLAN C: by Inserting the same image from my hard drive just to find out a "new issue" . . . it won't let me do it with the following error (see image below)

    FOR THE RECORD . . . I am having the same issue in Excel: I copy/paste an Icon and the I inserted the same icon on the same document then Save and Close. After reopening the document the images are gone!! (see below)

    At this point I am running out of PLANS!! and I need a fast solution to continue my work.

    I never had these issues with my previous version of Office 2010.

    To answer to your question I've been volunteering in Cambodia for the last 4 years, helping a local NGO (http://www.buildyourfuturetoday.org/) that works with villages in extreme poor conditions in rural areas, and help them to become self sustainable. The first step is to draw a map to identify number of families and minimum infrastructure, that's why your Icons came handy to me since I can use a basic Word document to do it.

    I am hoping my images and descriptions are clear enough to duplicate or identify the issues  . . . if not, please do not hesitate to ask for more info.

    I have exactly the same problem right now. Same circumstances and the error is concistently happening. :((
