So the setting I asked you to look for deals with handling of different monitors with different DPI settings. I was attempting to rule out that as a possible cause. As the build you're running does not even include this, that is not a cause.
The hardware acceleration options have to do with the way we animate and accelerate slideshow. That setting should have no bearing on core UI rendering behavior.
Is this something intermittent, or can you consistently reproduce? Are you also on an insiders' build of Windows?
Are these files stored locally, or in the cloud on a service like OneDrive or OneDrive for Business? And may I assume you're not seeing this kind of black screen with any other application?
I will see if I can reproduce this in-house, but I'm not seeing any obvious causes.
I'm also assuming you've tried running Windows Update to ensure your video drivers are up to date. Not likely that is the cause, but worth covering that base.
