Outlook v15.20 - signature now has image embedded not a link

This is a double post as I'm not sure that I posted in the OficeInsider area before.

This update seems to have screwed up my signature. Until now my signature had one image that was not embedded but a link. Now this behaviour seemed to have changed and the image is embedded in the message. Can we have the old behaviour restored?

    Any word on this yet? It's been over a year now :( 

    It's not an ideal situation when the only way the signatures work is to install .19, put the sig on, and then upgrade to the latest.

    Save yourself from this this paing and issue that Microsoft doesn't take serious. Take a look at server-sided signatures from CodeTwo for example. Works almost briljant (you do need Windows to configure the signature).

    appreciate codetwo and exclaimer are options, however not all of us have a flawless directory (yet).

    for now, the least worst solution remains local installation from a web based tool. however we are unable to use this on macs unless you

    1 - are on a developer machine with admin privileges (not most)

    2 - can be bothered to wipe your whole outlook install, put on .19, and then upgrade 17 versions to get the sig working.

    It's far from ideal.

    It's clear from John's earlier comment than the Outlook devs are dependant on the Word devs (as word is the editor). What is not clear is what sort of priority the word team view this as.

    The thing that irritates me most is there *are* workarounds, there is an app in the app storethat converts your HTML file into the custom format that .19 and earlier used. However the price the developer wants is actually more than we've been quoted for exclaimer/codetwo. can't justify that for a thing that gets use probably once a year on most laptops.

    If microsoft were able to provide us with the spec of the HTML signatures that were in the old version, we could probably customise our generator and make a script to put it in the right folder. right now, they just don't work, which would be OK if it was for 2-3 updates, but for 17?

    Hi Peter,

    I've been looking at this problem for a very long time (as you can tell from post history in this thread), and definitely understand the frustration.

    Sigstr actually has two solutions that work around this problem and help give better control over signatures for groups of people.

    There's a client-side installer that automatically keeps Outlook for Mac (2016) signatures up to date, which can be installed by end users or by IT. They also have a cloud signature product that adds the signature to emails after it's sent, so you don't have to install anything.
