Exact same issue reported by several of our staff that are helping test integrations with the Insider releases of Office 365.  Fortunately, the web version of OneNote still works.

Seeing the same error on build 190313 (16.24) onenote for mac.

We're on the fast insider build and syncing to office365 also.

Interesting is that it says there is an error, but if we check the online web version of onenote... it has actually synced.

I am not even able to open the notes after I signed out. It says my notebooks are not compatible with the version of OneNote. I am also not able to create new notebooks. I am on Fast Insider build also. Is there another way to reports these bugs to Microsoft as we are testing the pre relese builds?

Same issue. Can't open any OneNote files, not just sync. Reported the issue two days ago.
