Font Issues with office 365 Outlook/Word 16.9 (for Mac)

Gill Sans is not working correctly. Gill Sans Light appears as a serif font and Gill Sans Regular appears as Gill Sans Light?

Hi as0773,

It appears that this case is not one that was covered by the hotfix today. The best course of action to ensure that this is captured is to use the in-app feedback to submit a report (using the smiley face icon).

    Hi Coldwell,

    No the problem has not gone away, it is now slightly different with the latest update that I have.

    Gill Sans Light appears heavier than usual.

    Gill Sans Regular appears as Gill Sans Light.

    Gill Sans Bold appears lighter than usual.

    It does seem to be an issue with the updates, as a friend of mine is running Word 15.40 and all seems fine.

    I am running Word 16.9

    Would you please help confirm if font “serif” means “PT Serif”? To compare Gill Sans light with PT serif, I edited an email with Gill Sans light and PT serif font to clarify in Outlook. The results as the following picture shows. They are different from each other obviously. This issue might be related to the resolution of the screen.

    I suggest edit a email with fonts Gill San light and serif in Outlook for Mac and send it to someone, then monitor results in the recipient’s screen to see how it goes.

    If the fonts displays in the recipent's screen just like yours, please post the screenshot of the fonts for further investigation.
