MacOS "Another account from your organisation is already signed in on this device"

I have an Office 365 subscription through my work, after recently updating Office, every time I now open Word, Excel or PowerPoint, I am prompted to sign in and activate the product. When I try to, I get this error “Another account from your organisation is already signed in on this device".

I have tried multiple suggestions as follow :

My Office apps are all up to date and I am running macOS Monterey Version 12.6.

Excel for Mac version is 16.68.

Thank you for your support.

[Moved from Subscription, account, billing/For Business/Accounts, groups management, and sign in]

EDIT : upgrading to macOS Ventura (13.0.1) didn't solve the issue

Hi, The root cause was related to a shared mail box, I removed it from Outlook, and used office-reset tool to repair sign-in issue.

    Hi,

Did you ever figure out how to add a shared mailbox back? I'm running into the same issue but removing the shared mailbox isn't something we can do easily and live with day to day.

    Thanks!

I had been having similar problems on several clients' computers and this "office-reset" tool fixed them.

    Many thanks!
