MacOS "Another account from your organisation is already signed in on this device"

I have an Office 365 subscription through my work, after recently updating Office, every time I now open Word, Excel or PowerPoint, I am prompted to sign in and activate the product. When I try to, I get this error “Another account from your organisation is already signed in on this device".

I have tried multiple suggestions as follow :

My Office apps are all up to date and I am running macOS Monterey Version 12.6.

Excel for Mac version is 16.68.

EDIT : upgrading to macOS Ventura (13.0.1) didn't solve the issue

    Had the exact same issue, none of the fixes presented here worked. The user in question had gotten married a while back and changed their last name, so we changed their primary email address to match and set the old email address as an alias.

    We decided to try entering the old email address and it let us get a bit further, allowing us to select 'Work or School account', then it asked for the username again and we used the current email address and it worked!

    So, if you have ever changed the user's primary email address, try using their old one.

    Open Terminal and paste the following command:

    defaults write com.microsoft.Word ResetOneAuthCreds -bool YES

    Worked for me!

    The same user has had the same issue twice now since we resolved on 5/1 with the above solution. Does anyone know if there is a permanent fix for this? She is having to complete the above steps once a week now which is frustrating. Thanks!

    I had tried the Keychain steps as well as using office-reset tool. Completely uninstalling and restarting the machine etc. None of that worked.

    Finally found the above on Microsofts website - the terminal command worked without issues:

    Open Terminal and paste the following command:

    defaults write com.microsoft.Word ResetOneAuthCreds -bool YES

    We had this issue come up today on one of our computers and wanted to pass along the solution that worked for us.

    1. Deleted anything in the Keychain related to Office/Microsoft.
    2. Uninstalled OneDrive app
    3. Ran the Office-Reset tool and selected all options including uninstalling Office from the computer.
    4. Reinstalled Office apps and OneDrive

    We had tried the above with the exception of uninstalling OneDrive the first time which did not work.

    Appreciate everyone's comments here as I never would've figured it out.
