I have an Office 365 subscription through my work, after recently updating Office, every time I now open Word, Excel or PowerPoint, I am prompted to sign in and activate the product. When I try to, I get this error “Another account from your organisation is already signed in on this device".

I have tried multiple suggestions as follow :

My Office apps are all up to date and I am running macOS Monterey Version 12.6.

Excel for Mac version is 16.68.

Thank you for your support.

[Moved from Subscription, account, billing/For Business/Accounts, groups management, and sign in]

EDIT : upgrading to macOS Ventura (13.0.1) didn't solve the issue

I solved it by logging in as a user from a different organisation entirely. This gave me the opportunity to log out from various accounts that had been logged in earlier.

I just solved the issue for myself.

For me, the issue was that, due the nature of my job, I have multiple accounts for different tenants. I was working on an Excel file in a client's tenant and I had signed into Excel using that account. When my password was reset (by policy) at work, all of the Office desktop applications needed me to re-login but, for some reason, they would not show me who I was logged in as or give me the ability to swap or logout.

After shutting down all of my Microsoft apps (Teams, OneDrive, Edge, Office, etc.), I ended up searching for "Office" and "Microsoft" in my Keychain Access and deleted everything I could find.

After that, I was able to open PowerPoint and tried signing in using my work account. This time, it accepted my credentials without complaint but, when PowerPoint refreshed, it actually showed me that client account I had been previously signed in. Thankfully, it finally allowed me to sign out, which immediately swapped in my primary work account.

    Hi,

I've had similar issue and for me it worked this way:

    1. Remove additional account from Outlook (so there is just one)
    2. Open Keychain and remove every entry related to Microsoft / Office
    3. Reboot Mac
    4. Open Excel and sign in

Fortunately I didn't had to use any 3rd party software

I'm having the same issue with my macbook pro 13. I have tried the reset-office client and tried and license removal tool but none of them helped. If anyone could help.

    Thanks in advance
