Yesterday (8/24/18), my desktop version of OneNote disappeared -- uninstalled itself. I reinstalled Office on my desktop (64-bit Insider version), and OneNote desktop was restored. Today, OneNote was missing again.

Yes installed this way and from my account and both ways from a fresh install, both did install OneNote, but something magically removes it within 24 hours with no notification. The problem is not that I don't or can't install it, it is the problem that it is automatically being uninstalled...
Have you tried installing the windows desktop version from http://www.onenote.com/download ?
If you use 64-bit office, click the 'Other download options' link to get 64bit.

please help... I urgently need the OneNote 2016 desktop app back on my device... somehow in the last two or so weeks OneNote 2016 removed itself... it simply disappeared. I used to have it side by side with the regular win 10 app.
i have tried several reinstalls of office 365 and to no avail. infact 365 is now installing without onenote.
i'm not tech savy is there a link i can get for this?
PS: the liks on the mircosoft website only redirect to the installing of the windows 10 app
The problem appears to be solved today. After a lot of problems uninstalling Office 365, I finally succeeded by running o15-ctremove.diagcab . After reinstall using O365HomePremiumretail (Insider).Img, 32-bit version, OneNote 2016 works again, apparently without being uninstalled the next day. I also had to install OneTastic macros. Hoping it stays.
