Word can't print due to a problem with the printer setup

MS Word for Mac version 16.14
No changes to system. Word update installed yesterday, since that time, Word alone can't print from the system, pops this error each time before the print dialogue. Will not print. Other MS Office products still working fine (excel, etc). Printing from any other application on system also works fine. Reboot did not help either.
Any other ideas?

2018-05-16T19:15:33+00:00 I have the same problem as the original poster - getting exact same error message, able to sometimes get the first print job after reboot to process but after that the error message returns. No problems printing from other sources, including MS office apps -- only Word is messed up. This error message just started popping up a few days ago - up until then I had used this printer to print from MS Office for Mac apps for years without problems.
I have a Canon MF4350d printer. No alternate printer so this a major inconvenience.

2018-05-15T17:04:17+00:00 The team is aware of problems with a few different printer models giving an error or not prompting a print dialogue at all. They are working to resolve this, but the current work around if you have multiple printers is to set a different printer as the default. This will allow the print dialogue to pop without an error, and then to select the printer you'd like to print from.
