Has anyone seen this before. Any advise on how to move back to default position?

    Hey Microsoft!

Today was the day I started to think about this feature. My honest opinion is that I will not use it. However, UI is getting more and more complicated on the header. I usually drag and drop all sorts of window around the screen. Office search bar and other buttons are making it hard to grab the window and drag it around. I think you are losing function with overcrowding the header of the window. Just a feedback, hope it helps.

    Best regards

    Hi Stephanie,

You cannot revert back.  This was a design change and you will learn to love it.  I would imagine since it is a month since your original post that you have learned to already love it and regret your original comment.

This was an early Christmas present for you!

    John

    Dear John,

I have not learned to love it at all.  I have been working with PCs since Windows 95 and I have seen plenty of changes.  This is not a good one.  If you like it that's fine , but you are out of line telling people what they should like.

    Dear John,

Please do not assume what people will learn to love.

    Stephanie,

I have been using the new search bar for about 6 months or so. I reverted it back with some of the methods suggested earlier in this thread but when you do this, you no longer receive the Office updates. So, like a beat down dog, I submitted to Microsoft's dominance. I STILL absolutely HATE the new location. It gets in the way of the email windows and the functionality and responsiveness of the typing area is horrendous. It is almost comedic that when you start typing in your search terms, the box expands so large that it covers up it's own search results.

I wish there was a better answer, but until someone comes out with a competing product we will have to roll over and let MS do as they please.

In the meantime you may find some relief in knowing you are not alone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwX2NuL0E1w
