Has anyone seen this before. Any advise on how to move back to default position?

I see this thread has already 23 pages, almost 2 years of communication, and most of people want to put the search field back, as it was before (as when open, it overlaps search controls).
How long more time will we wait for this ugly thing will be corrected ???

My workplace "upgraded" me to office 365.  I cannot stand this new search, it is less helpful than the search in the prior version.  This is a steaming pile of excrement.

Microsoft - please bring my search box like it was before. This one at the top is so STUPID.

    Thank you

This is a terrible change. The search effectively acts as a filter on the message list, and so removing it from the context of the list pane is downright confusing, besides requiring extra mouse movement as many have already stated.

If you cannot or will not make this a configuration option, keep the global search in the title bar and at least add a quick search/quick filter bar (giving immediate feedback / live preview) back in at the top of the list view. Actually, that would be similar to what Thunderbird is already doing.

    why Microsoft? why?

Outlook is the only office program, where I've ever used the search and now you moved it to his strange place -.-

Why not keep it close to the content I'm searching?
