Has anyone seen this before. Any advise on how to move back to default position?

Strongly dislike the drop down box and the location.

Just a big thumbs down all around.  I use(d) the search in Outlook on an hourly basis if not more.  Now it is literally adding time to my workday.

Many people, like me, were frustrated by the fact that the drop-down suggestions obscured the very tools we needed for searching.  I just discovered that if I hit Esc when it drops down, it goes away & I can use the tools.  Silly design, I know, but there's a quick and familiar  fix for it.

Exactly. Baffling how something so obvious got overlooked by the developers.  Hopefully, they'll get enough complaints and fix it.

    Some workarounds:

    1. If you press escape, the drop down goes away and you can then access the 'to', 'subject', 'has attachments' filters ribbon.
    2. Other solution is to actually type in to:"persons name", subject:"subject name" but this is cumbersome.

Best solution, as you stated is to move it to the right side or something of that nature where the drop down doesn't interfere with anything else.
