PowerPoint and Outlook not recognizing some fonts

I'm running Office 365 on a Mac and the latest updates for both programs eliminate their ability to recognize my company's branded fonts. The fonts appear in the font list inside of each program, but Outlook appears to be using Arial in their place and PowerPoint appears to be using Calibri.

The fonts are installed on my computer for every user, and other programs (Excel, Word, Adobe Creative Cloud) still recognize them.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the fonts, rebuilding my Mac's font cache, resolving duplicates in font book, copying the fonts into the office compatible folder in font book, even copying the font files directly into the font folder inside of the contents of the Outlook app (Outlook > Resources > Fonts). The only thing that works is to uninstall and reinstall Office completely, (and avoid all updates).

    Hi Jay,

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "differences". The fonts are from the Tele-Grotesk family and are True Type fonts, so they have file extension .ttf. I think some other fonts also weren't working when I noticed the problem in PowerPoint, but I'm not sure which ones.

And actually, I've also noticed that I can't use Tele-Grotesk fonts in charts within Excel. The fonts display correctly as text in cells, but if I try to change the title or labels on a chart to Tele-Grotesk, Calibri is displayed instead. I can change titles and labels to lots of other fonts that aren't installed on my system by default (Avenir, Futura), but not Tele-Grotesk. **Updated with screenshots at the end of this message. Weird.

The only other difference I've noticed is this:

In Outlook (fonts not displaying correctly) and Excel (fonts sometimes not displaying correctly) the fonts are stored in a folder called "Fonts." I can get to this folder by right clicking on Outlook, selecting "Show Package Contents" and navigating to  > Resources > Fonts.

In Word and PowerPoint (fonts working fine in the builds I'm using), that folder is called "DFonts" instead.

    PowerPoint > Resources > DFonts

    Word > Resources > DFonts

I doubt that means anything, but *shrug* that's all I've noticed.

    Thanks!

Trust me, I have Tele-Grotesk selected, but that's Calibri:

But look at this, now Tele-Grotesk is displaying correctly:

    Hi Evangeline,

I'll send a note over so the team is aware, if they weren't already. Good call to make sure things are working for big presentations.

Are there any differences in the branded fonts and any other font? (I'm wondering if the newer version is somehow missing something when loading).

    Thanks!

    Hi Jay,

Thanks for asking. I'm using Outlook version 16.9 (171210). It still has the font issue.

I uninstalled and reinstalled a slightly older build of PowerPoint (version 15.41 (171205) ), and now it displays my company's proprietary fonts just fine. I have some big presentations coming up, so I unenrolled from the Office Insider program and am sticking with this version for now.

    Hi Evangeline,

Any change in the issue? Have you tried a more recent build?

    Thanks.
