Office Insider - Error Code 30088-28

Insider was working just fine. Then yesterday this error message 30088-28 came up after I tried to download the most recent update. I then tried a restart, then a quick repair, then a full repair. The full repair gave a different error message that 'something went wrong', the consequence being that Office was completely uninstalled. I then reinstalled it, restarted, and tried again to update to Insider - it came right back to the 30088-28 message! 

I urgently need to get back to Insider - can someone please help me?

I have received confirmation from the team that they have resolved this with the latest build, and it looks like several others in this thread have successfully updated today. If you were experiencing this error, please try updating again. If you run into any further issues, please create a new thread and provide details.

    I'm having the same problem with 30088-28. Tried several troubleshooting steps including uninstall, reinstall to no avail. I am on the Windows Insider program.

    Strangely, my desktop is having the issue, but laptop is not. Both are on Insider. Not sure what the difference is.

    Desktop is stuck on 1908 build 11929.20254. Suddenly doesn't have FILTER and SORT any more.

    Laptop got newest 1909 build 12026.20000.  XLOOKUP and XMATCH!!

    Hopefully we'll get answers soon.

    The latest Office Insider update generates this error code (Something went wrong, problem downloading updates, 30088-28) during the download process.

    I've seen discussions from earlier that suggest both do a repair (from Programs and Features) and don't do a repair but wait for MS to fix it but these were mostly during discussions about the regular Office products. 

    Which of these two options do I do to correct this, or is there some other resolution to this problem.

    We are aware of this issue and are working on a fix on our end, you do not need to do anything. If you have attempted any specific steps, we would appreciate knowing what those are, but if not then we don't need any additional information at this time.
