Word Functions Don't Work

Last week my microsoft word automatically updated. Since then it has been lagging, the cursor is not aligned, and functions such as coloring and highlighting words don't work. I have tried to download updated packages or MAU from the office support website but nothing worked. How do I fix this?

    Insider builds can't be updated that way.

    Make sure your Mac has a working internet connection before checking for updates. Install Mac OS X updates followed by Office updates.

    Install Mac OS X updates first:

    To get Mac OS updates, go to the App store on your dock, and then click the Updates button to reveal available updates.

    Then Install Office Updates

    To get the update:

    1. Open any Office application:
    2. Make sure your Mac has a working internet connection
    3. Go to the Help menu and choose Check for Updates
    4. Let AutoUpdate check for and install updates
    5. Restart your Mac

    As stated before, I have already done this. That is why I have an issue. The updated Word caused these issues. 

    I need help how to fix that.

    When asked earlier, you said you have version 16.7 and did not specify the build number. 16.7 is an Insider Fast program.

    Then you said you installed Office from a site that offers only general release builds, not insider builds. General release build would be version 15.39 or 15.40.

    The current Insider Fast build is 16.7 (171008), and I have seen reports that there is even a newer build that some people seem to have received.

    Because Insider Fast builds are so frequent, I think that often it's easier to simply wait for the next build rather than uninstall/reinstall.
