Last week my microsoft word automatically updated. Since then it has been lagging, the cursor is not aligned, and functions such as coloring and highlighting words don't work. I have tried to download updated packages or MAU from the office support website but nothing worked. How do I fix this?

Can you please provide your Word and MacOS version for us?
Please also let us know if you're experiencing this issue on other Office applications, such as PowerPoint and Excel.

Let's start with something simple. Does restarting your Mac fix this?
No. I have tried to restart my Mac and download all the current updates from this website: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Update-history-for-Office-2016-for-Mac-700cab62-0d67-4f23-947b-3686cb1a8eb7?ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US#bkmk\_mau
and restarted again after downloading.
