Buttons for handling meeting requests (Accept, Tentative, Decline, etc.) are just icons, without the text. Please bring back the text.

I am not confident enough in the icons to click on them without first hovering to confirm the text is the behavior that I want.

This is Office 1904 (Build 11601.20144 Click-To-Run).  I believe the change is recent.

    Hello Barry Bond,

I checked the Outlook (Version Build 11601.20144 Click-To-Run), but it does have the text on the buttons. Here is the screenshot for your reference:

If your Outlook view is different from mine, would you mind provide us a screenshot of your symptom to help us check it further?

Meanwhile, you can try to reset Outlook view to see if it can help. To do this, just click View > Reset View.

    Best Regards,

    Sylvie

    Here is what I see:

The invite buttons are checkbox, question mark, and blank (or low-contrast something I can't make out), or clock.  Previously, they had text "Accept", "Tentative", "Decline" and "Propose New Time" along with the icons.

And in the View tab, Reset View is disabled.

    Hello Barry Bond,

Many thanks for your screenshot. It seems that your Outlook is different from mine, as you can see:

Would you mind provide us a screenshot of your Outlook Production Information to help us check it further? See File > Office Account.

Meanwhile, if it is related to view settings, you can press Win + R to open Run, then type Outlook.exe /cleanviews and press OK to clear all Outlook view settings to see if it can help.

    Best Regards,

    Sylvie

Right - this is the Outer ring, monthly fork.  I included my version # in my original problem report.  Since then, Outlook has upgraded to a newer number:
