"Insert Icon" function missing, Macbook Pro, Office 365

Dear all,

After a lifetime spent downloading SVGs icons, I felt relieved when finally Microsoft decided to implement the insert icon function for the MacOS version of Office as well.

However, this feature is recently not available for me anymore.

Here you find the details about my subscription:

  • Microsoft Office 2016, Personal 365 subscription;
  • Macbook Pro running Sierra 13.5

I already tried several things to fix this issue:

  • I already try to search for the function in ribbon & toolbar, the function is not even there
  • I contacted the Microsoft service twice; none of the assistants was able to fix this issue
  • I uninstalled Office and reinstalled the older version, did not work
  • I updated Office, along with joining the Office insiderprogram, did not work either.

What is happening and how can I fix this? I work a lot with PowerPoint and that tool was a life-saver for me!

Thanks

Install updates to get this feature.

    Here’s how to install updates:

Make sure your Mac has a working internet connection, then:

    1. Update Mac OS X. Open the App store and click on the Updates button. Install the updates.
    2. After, in any Office application go to the Help menu and choose Check for Updates to launch the AutoUpdate app. Let AutoUpdate install updates and then restart your Mac.

If you use Antidote, Webex, Silverlight, EndNote, Zotero or other add-ins there is a potential for crashes unless you also update your add-ins to the latest update. Install updates for these programs if you have them.

    Hi FrancescoP94,

I checked in the latest version i.e.

16.14.1 and this option is available in PowerPoint 2016 for mac.

To insert an icon in Office 2016 for Mac, click Insert>Icons. Scroll through the icons or jump to a category by clicking the name in the navigation pane at the left.

Choose an icon and then click Insert at the lower right.

To inset SVG, go to Insert > Pictures > Picture from file to insert your SVG images.

For your reference: Insert icons in Microsoft Office

Since you mentioned, you can’t find the Icons option in PowerPoint, I would like to collect following information for troubleshooting:

    1. Please provide the version and build of Excel application. To check, in PowerPoint, go to the PowerPoint menu and choose About PowerPoint.
    2. Provide the screenshot of Insert tab.

    Thanks

    Neha

I would post a screenshot of PowerPoint > About PowerPoint  so people can see what your current version is.
