"New" Outlook search at the title bar - anyone else fed up?

Hi everyone, and sorry for my strong language,

but I am really fed up with the new Outlook Search on the title bar, that appeared a couple of months ago in the Insider build.

Outlook Search used to work perfectly well for years, why did MS have to touch it really? Does anyone else feel so annoyed as well with the latest changes?

Just an example from today:

The new search bar, that has unfortunately been moved to the title bar, not only is it no functionally positioned - compared to how useful it was - but also does not work correctly:

  1. I am used to typing "to:" of "from:" and the name of the person whose mail I am looking for. No autocomplete for the names here
  2. I am used to typing "hasattachment:yes"; not only the autocomplete is gone (it used to come up after typing "has"), but no search results show up, even if there are emails sent to the particular person with attachments
  3. the same as #2 happens when I use the "has attachments" button of the ribbon. No results are shown, although there are messages with attachments for the particular person
  4. the new filter options (the ones you get when you click on the "Current folder" option at the title bar) are not consistent with what you have already typed in the search filter. E.g. I already have typed "hasattachment:yes" and I can still select "yes" in the attachment filter, so I end up for two "hasattachment:yes" options in the search bar, which of course doesn't work (not that it worked with one statement)

What a big scr*!@up of the Outlook search feature! Please revert to the previous one!

I agree!!  I am a super (search) user - and now it takes 3 times the amount of work!!  And it's not even customizable for me -  I 'always' search 'all outlook items' due to the type of work I do (patient files) and I can't set the default for that option.  I can set it to current folder...or current mailbox.   But not 'all outlook items'.   So that's 3 extra clicks and settings I have to choose every single time I search, which for me is about 100 times a day or more --- It increased my work load and lengthened to time it takes to do my job.

If they wanted to do something useful they could have

    • fixed the 'delete' on the clipboard to make it faster and more efficient (and I even had to find a work around to get my clipboard to stay on because...oh yeah, they screwed that up a long time ago to make it 'better')
    • made the search function search multiple mailboxes
    • fixed the glitch in the 'sort by' option (in the columns) after a search (I get an error message all the time about not being able to sort by folder. So I delete the column, re-add it, restart outlook and hope it starts working again at least 3-4 times per day).
    • fix the filters so my safe senders stop ending up in spam folders.

Or how about fixing everything about the contacts --

how about adding an option to add more emails to a contact instead of being limited to just 3!!?

fix the issue that causes contacts with same or similar name but different email addresses to only open one of those contacts - usually the one I don't need.

find the mystery of why the contacts just simply disappear into the trash or completely into space...

figure out why some contacts just won't open on right click --- no matter what.  I know they exist - because I can use up extra valuable time and go to contact folder and find them that way.

fix the issue where the contact card will not open from the message options pane.

And my personal favorite glitch - having to 'right click' on an email address 2-3 times to get the 'edit contact' to show (as opposed to 'add to contacts' ) when the contact already exists.

And I have a co worker that has to have her profile 'rebuilt' every 2-3 weeks....because her account simply stops sending email.  No reason Microsoft can find so their final support decision is just take half a day and rebuild every couple of weeks, then wait for all the folders to sync, then reset all the personalized settings again...over and over for a at least a year now.

There are literally so many bugs in outlook that slow down productivity that they could spend time fixing ...but no, they have to take something that's working just fine and eff it up for everyone - because they think it's super awesome and so much better.  smfh
