"New" Outlook search at the title bar - anyone else fed up?

Hi everyone, and sorry for my strong language,

but I am really fed up with the new Outlook Search on the title bar, that appeared a couple of months ago in the Insider build.

Outlook Search used to work perfectly well for years, why did MS have to touch it really? Does anyone else feel so annoyed as well with the latest changes?

Just an example from today:

The new search bar, that has unfortunately been moved to the title bar, not only is it no functionally positioned - compared to how useful it was - but also does not work correctly:

  1. I am used to typing "to:" of "from:" and the name of the person whose mail I am looking for. No autocomplete for the names here
  2. I am used to typing "hasattachment:yes"; not only the autocomplete is gone (it used to come up after typing "has"), but no search results show up, even if there are emails sent to the particular person with attachments
  3. the same as #2 happens when I use the "has attachments" button of the ribbon. No results are shown, although there are messages with attachments for the particular person
  4. the new filter options (the ones you get when you click on the "Current folder" option at the title bar) are not consistent with what you have already typed in the search filter. E.g. I already have typed "hasattachment:yes" and I can still select "yes" in the attachment filter, so I end up for two "hasattachment:yes" options in the search bar, which of course doesn't work (not that it worked with one statement)

What a big scr*!@up of the Outlook search feature! Please revert to the previous one!

    Same for me, same symptoms, reduced productivity and frustration (also that I can't revert back to previous Outlook version before this awful change). I have 2x PC and 1x NTB, luckily only one has been affected with this disaster, so I turned off automatic updates on the other two until this problem is (hopefully) solved. I really can't understand how some SW developer can do such a fatal mistake and the MS management approves it to be distributed amongst millions of users worldwide, without an option to go back to a functional version.

    Similar problem is with OneNote, where new entries (like clips from webpages) merge to the bottom of the list instead of the top. For many years unsatisfied users write this problem to Microsoft, but it is flatly ignored.

    What Version/Build are you referring to? I just updated my Office 365 and I'm not experiencing any of the issues you mentioned. I can still type "to: rm" and the screen shows me autocompleted names. Typing "hasattachments:yes" returns all items with attachments. 

    I am using Version 2004 (Build 12730.20352 Click-to-Run)

    My Windows 10 build: 1909 (OS Build 18363.836)

    Evan,

    Under Help, there is no Feedback choice.

    The new search feature will not search server, but just says let's search my computer.

    It is frustrating that Microsoft would roll out something that does not work right.

    I will vote. I made a quick calculation on Excel to see how much Microsoft give a **** for now and a forecast for the future; it calculates to zero, so at least I can thank at least one of their programs for an helpful answer.
