I downloaded the latest updates and now cannot use the backspace key in powerpoint. Works fine in word, outlook, excel, etc. Any clues as to what might be wrong?

Thanks a lot. In the meantime, I became an expert of Trackpad manipulation on my Mac Book Pro, as well as Cmd-X key.
Backspace and arrows get badly missed though.
The team is aware of this issue and is working to get it resolved ASAP. We don't have a specific ETA to share for a fix at this time.
