Turn Off Text Animation

Split from this thread.

Microsoft Outlook for Mac, Version 16.6 (171004) has an animation for the text cursor where it "slides" to the right (for English) when inserting a character. Seems like eye candy to me as insertion of a character is a discrete atomic event warranting an advance of the text cursor by one character width. The closest approximation I have to describe the animation behavior would be to say that it's as if every PowerPoint slide transition was suddenly forced to be a "pan right." It's rather gratuitous. (The text cursor animation seems to be present in all the Office apps in 16.6. I'd love to have a way to turn it off.

I think you are referring to the new way text sort of glides when you type in the latest insider build, am I correct?

If so, please use the smile button in PowerPoint to send your suggestion directly to the product team.

    Hi David,

From your description, may I know if you want to remove the animation effects in PowerPoint for Mac?

If yes, please try as following link: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Change-or-remove-animation-effects-in-PowerPoint-for-Mac-bb9c8019-a0a5-41b7-a710-ab64369d83d4.

If no, to understand your actual situation, please provide us some information as below:

    1. Some screenshots about “Outlook has changed my macOS machine to a Windows machine” and your outlook version?
    2. Some screenshots or some examples about what you concern ( for example: you want to turn off the office animation in Mac?).

Please contact us if you have any update.

    Thanks

    Iry

And to add to the confusion, because 16.6 is an Insider build, the question should have been raised in the special Insider forum, so I'll give this question another move.

My apologies, Microsoft has slipstreamed an entire version number up, from 15.39 to 16.6, even though we are alleged on the same Office 2016 for Mac as previous. I wasn't on the Insider Fast releases, but saw it as soon as I switched my update options. I've moved your question back to the Office for Mac section.

Then I've got a more serious problem, because Outlook has changed my macOS machine to a Windows machine. ;-)

Seriously though, I'm on the Office Insider Fast channel (perhaps this is the wrong place to post issues with these preview releases), and the About box states "Microsoft® Outlook for Mac" and "Version 16.6 (171004)".
