A Microsoft application for managing email, calendars, contacts, and tasks across devices and platforms.
Just an FYI, this recently happened to a different user. It might be that an update is indeed messing with this setting.
This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
Since the August update, whenever I paste hyperlinks that show "friendly" text with the URL underneath into the body of an Outlook email message, I get strange behavior.
For example, if I copy a hyperlink, say, in Word, that looks like this hyperlink, and paste it into the body of a new email, I only get the friendly text with no hyperlink.
If I have a hyperlink in my clipboard that points to a local application instead of http://, for instance, dynamicsnav:// opens Microsoft Dynamics NAV, when I paste that, I only get the URL, and not the friendly text
This seems very strange, and I have reinstalled several times.
Thoughts?

John,
Thanks for the note. I've had similar experiences myself, and it's exasperating, as you're sure it's set up correctly, or in my case, never realized that setting was there.
No use making yourself crazy trying to figure it out unless it does it again.

This was a settings issue.
File > Options > Mail > Editor Options > Advanced > Pasting from Other Programs > Keep Source Formatting (Default) wasn’t selected.
I have no clue how that could have been de-selected, but it happened!
Thanks for the reply.
Hi John,
Thanks for your post. Which version of Outlook are you using, Production or Insider build, and on which platform (Mac, iOS, or Windows) so we can get you the assistance you want.
Thanks!
