Latest desktop update (2401) only has a "white" theme?

Blinding and hard to read.

Am I missing something?

    Hi,

I wanted to ask about the Dark Theme.

I prefer to have the dark theme but with the white view of the page. With the new Outlook the optional checkbox for keeping the white page is not available. I can click on the "sun" or "moon" icon on the specific email but I cannot make it random for all messages. Same goes for creating new message. I would like to have it by default with dark mode but white page/background. Currently I can only do it for a single email.

    Please advise.

    Regards,

    Piotr N.

Hi Arquel - Appreciate you showing the settings for the New Outlook. I wanted to send a note that those settings appeared for me a few weeks ago and seemed to disappear from my appearance tab one day. I only have appearance settings of Dark Mode and Classic Themes. How do I go about getting the settings similar to above?

    Hello Tom,

Thank you for posting here in Microsoft Community.

It may depend on what desktop version you are using, as for both New Outlook for Windows and the Classic version of Outlook has different ways to change it's theme settings. I would love to confirm if what Outlook version are you using? Is it the Classic version or the New Outlook version? You will know the difference as the Classic version has a File tab while the New one does not have it.

Here's how to change your theme settings on the Classic Outlook (Change the look and feel of Microsoft 365 - Microsoft Support):

    • Open Classic Outlook application.
    • Go to File > Options > General > Office Theme.
    • Choose your preferred color them on there, it should look like this:

For the New Outlook for Windows:

    • Open New Outlook application.
    • Click the gear icon located on the upper right corner to launch the Settings.
    • Select General > Appearance and from there select your preferred settings which it will look like this:

I hope this information helps! Please let me know if you need further assistance.

    Best regards,

    Arquel C.
