Latest desktop update (2401) only has a "white" theme?
Blinding and hard to read.
Am I missing something?

No, you don't missing something here. The Microsoft support (Mr. Arquel) has not understood our problem in the first place. If I could, I would sue Microsoft for hurting and stressing my eyes during all day use of New Outlook. Switch to Old Outlook, they have a dark grey, much better. Yes, you lose the modern integration in the other apps. Microsoft shoots itself in the foot here.
This is not customer service because it is not to the point. In new Outlook, black is too dark, white is too bright and that is what this gentleman is asking, by the way, me too. We spend so much time on the screen and the white mode is hurting after hours my eyes whereas the black is too dark. It is very naive or you want to foul the user. Somebody would think it is just a very low effort to change general colour schemes with all the innovation going on in other application. Sad, very sad
Same for me... so difficult to view.
I disagree with the above screenshot; mine Only has the modes and then "Classic Theme" which consists of white if you're in Dark mode and BRIGHT ROYAL Blue if you're in light mode! And it's awful!
