Automatic and manual backups is no longer working in OneNote!

File > Option > Save & Backup > 'Back Up All Notebooks Now' does not trigger anything :/

Backup Folder: C:\Users\*name*\OneNote

Any thoughts?

For possible resolution, you can try to repair Office, or re-install Office 365.

Let us know how it goes.

My colleague sitting beside me in the office installed Office 2016 today (not Office 365), created a few Notebooks, some in the cloud and some local and did a backup exactly as I have been trying and his works perfectly.

Perhaps the Office 365 distribution is broken?

    Hi,

Thanks for your reply but this solution doesn't make sense to me as the first link describes Windows level backups of the file system but the restore link is for restoring backups made in OneNote, not Windows. Even if you identified the cached notebook files at the file system layer this provides no way to backup and restore individual notebooks.

What I want is a solution for OneNote backup to work as it should as described

    https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Back-up-notes-f58b34b0-611d-435e-87fa-7942a1767af4#ID0EAABAAA=OneNote\_2016,\_OneNote\_2013,\_OneNote\_2010

Surely the product should work as designed?

You can back up your file/s to another drive using File Historyon Windows 10, and restore them if the original are lost or missing.

To do so, check the links out:

I primarily use One Note in OSX however I regularly use Windows 10 in a VMware Fusion virtual machine. Since the Mac version of Onenote doesn't support backup I want to use the Windows version to do backups.

As I already said earlier on I am using the latest version of Office 365 Onenote in Windows 10 with all Windows and office patches up to date. The backup runs but only backs up Quicknotes.
