could dark mode please be added of Word etc for samsung sm-t860

It appears that finally Microsoft have come to the party and brought dark mode to the tab s6. (sm-t860)

With word version 1.0.1 (16.0.17425.20174) or possibly a slightly earlier version they now support samsungs implementation of dark mode. (Note there were no updates from Samsung, so it was still on MS to add support for it to their app)

While the implementation is not working for all areas (the new document page is still partially light) its certainly better than nothing.

Next task, getting feature parity between desktop App and Web versions of Word etc...

Thanks for your reply, unfortunately after checking the software update section it seems I am running the latest available update for Android provided by Samsung for the tab s6.

Looking further into the device settings this version of Android does have a system setting for dark mode under settings > display there is a dark mode switch, but despite this being on, the option in the word app under profile icon > settings, the Theme option with Light, Dark or System doesn't appear.

If the system supports dark mode doesn't this fall back to being an issue with Microsoft Word and supporting the way samsung does dark mode on the galaxy tab S6? Or I suppose it could also be said, it may be an issue of samsung not implementing a standard approach to the dark mode settings meaning Microsoft Word doesn't work with that implementation method.

Don't suppose you know the method MS uses to detect and enable the dark profile within Word for Android? So it can be determined if the issue is a Microsoft or Samsung one.

In the meantime I have also started a support ticket with MS to look into the support for dark mode for the MS Word app on Samsung Galexy Tab S6. So hopefully something comes of that.

Despite being on the insider release of the word app, dark mode is still unavailable on my samsung sm-t860 (galaxy tab S6), running android version 12.

My phone (a oneplus6t running android 11) does support darkmode.

Please let me know if this is simply a support process for Microsoft to add the functionality or if the issue is a Samsung issue.

Dark Mode is now available for individual Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for Android apps on devices running Android 11 or higher. The Office app for Android devices also has a Dark Mode option for Android 9 or higher devices. To check if you have Dark Mode open the Office app (maybe use Google Play to update your apps first). Tap on the Home icon at the top left, then Settings. Scroll down to see if there’s a Theme option with Light, Dark or System choices. Unfortunately, the Samsung SM-T860 (Galaxy Tab S6) is running Android 12, which is not currently supported by the Office app. You may want to check with Samsung and Microsoft to see if they will be adding support for Android 12 in the near future.

Shouldn't this mean that my device on android 12 a version higher than 11 should support dark mode in word?

The version of the individual word app I am on is 16.0.16026.20078 (as of 9th Jan 2023) on both my phone and tablet but unfortunately the dark mode theme only appears on my phone not my tablet.

This statement seems in conflict with the earlier part of your comment that stated "Android 11 or higher."

It looks like the issue is with Samsung and not Microsoft. The dark mode is available on devices running Android 11 and higher, so your Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 should support it. Open the Settings app and go to Display > Dark mode to enable dark mode. If the Dark mode option is unavailable, your device may not be running the latest version of Android. To update your device, go to Settings > Software update and check for any available updates. After updating your device, you should be able to enable Dark mode.
