Powerpoint 16.15 (180530) Save as PDF - images are blurry

Even when PDF export quality is set to high - the images on the PPT are blurry when using PDF export.  The images are fine in the PPT itself.

Choose Help>Check for Updates and in that dialog, check Join the Office Insider program to get early access to new releases. Then choose Office Insider Slow for fairly well-tested code or Office Insider Fast for advanced features with more bugs. Don't choose the latter on a computer you use to get work done.

This issue has been fixed in Insider Slow channel since build 16.15 (180701) and in Insider Fast channel since build 16.16 (180702), and it should reach the rest of our users soon. Please update your builds and let us know if the problem is not fully resolved.

    I am experiencing the same problem with version 16.14.1

    I am working with some screenshots of software. It is for a user guide. The exported PDF shows super blurry images on a Mac, but the images are fine on a PC. I have even run the same file on LibreOffice and the results are much better.

    I have tested the images from PNG screenshots to JPEG, and the quality improves, specially when overlapping images or when the scale is not perfect halves (ie. not 25%, 50% or 75%).

    To me, it seems PowerPoint for Mac is not handling well image compression, but specially PNG and scaling. 

    Microsoft, do something! This not a small feature, it is critical, as we not always want to print files, but we do want to hand out our presentations. Now, I depend on LibreOffice (go figure)....

    We are using PPT for Mac 16.14.1 and just this week began having unbelievable font and blurry image issues. We've tried print to PDF, save as PDF and export as PDF, all with the same issues. The documents look FINE in PPT, but AWFUL when exported. We've resulted to having our PC-using teammates export the PPT files to PDF, but this is not an acceptable permanent solution.

    MICROSOFT: What the heck happened in the last couple of weeks?!

    Sample shown below - don't judge the design, done by another staff member who is NOT a design professional. 8-)

    Note random blurry image, lines around photos getting thicker, text spacing issues.

    The problem you're having has nothing to do with image compression. It's a bad PDF export filter on the current version.

    I avoid bitmap formats  in Office unless it's a photo. For all linework or logos I place vector formats. You can place a PDF from Illustrator in PowerPoint for Mac. You can also use an EMF if you open an AI file in Inkscape for Mac and save it as EMF. Do not use the EMF export from Illustrator, it's curve accuracy is really bad.
