Yoga, where can I find that smile button? Does it exist only for office365 or also for Powerpoint locally installed?
BTW, for what its worth, this tip - for us customers telling the product team directly - is the single most useful piece of advice we've received from you so far. Maybe you have a policy from your bosses that makes it risky for you to do so. Nothing more
powerful than letting us customers tell the business people directly how troublesome this problem is!
And if you really want to be helpful, suggest a few third party apps that we can install and use locally to create small pdfs from powerpoint files. Not everyone has a Office365 subscription - and you also did not suggest that workaround, one of us did -
and not everyone is always connected to the internet making web-apps not a useful workaround.
I think at the core we are struggling to feel a)heard and b)that you / MSFT cares.
Over the last 6 month you could have
- Tell us the work-around about Office365 on day one, acknowledging that it wont be helpful for everyone
- Tell us to use 3rd party online apps ("e.g. with a sentence like "searching for create small pdf in Bing often creates a list of useful services to try")
- Tell us to use 3rd party apps to install, with some similar true-fire way to locate ones that work without having to endorse anything specifically.
- Tell us about how to provide ongoing feedback via the elusive Smile button.
This would have resulted in thread with immediately useful information and a clear sense by us that MSFT cares about creating usable products. And my believe is it would have created more relevant feedback to the business people about how big a deal this
is and it would have created a positive customer experience rather than one of neglect, disrespect, and a general feeling of customer support = press button a ("Your message is very important to us. We are currently experiencing higher than usual volume and
will get back to you as soon as possible"), press button b ("We are very sorry for the inconvenience this issue is causing you. I have sent the information to the team in charge which is investigating the issue.") and be done. There are plenty of companies
that do customer support right. I think it all depends on who you are as a person and which corporation you want to give your time, dependent on how it aligns with your values.
