After recently upgrading to Powerpoint 2016 for Mac and Office 365 for Windows, I noticed some serious graphics issues between the two Operating Systems. Below are examples.
Example 1:
In the above image, the left side was created in Powerpoint 2016 for Mac from Inserted .emf files created in Illustrator, then copied/pasted as "Paste as Picture." I did this in order to be able to Rotate then Crop the images to perfect horizontal/vertical
lines to meet the edge of the artboard. When the exact same file is opened in Powerpoint 2016 for Windows, you see the right side of the above example.
This does not happen with every image in the slide deck, only some images! And, if I take an older version of the same file in which I did not copy/paste the Inserted image, there are no artifacts and loss of
Shadows.
Example 2:
The left side is shows a graphic created within Powerpoint 2016 for Mac (drawn using PPT's tools), and also copy/pasted as "Paste as Picture." Again, when opened in Powerpoint 2016 for Windows—on the right side of the example pic—you see artifacts and a
loss of the Shadow.
Issue: What is at issue is that "Paste as Picture" seems to apply—randomly...—some extra type of information to the pasted graphic, and though it looks great on the Mac from which it is made, on a Windows version of Powerpoint—and I tried
this on different machines running Windows—there are this extreme graphics...mis-translations, for lack of a better work. And above I'm showing 2 examples, but I have other issues where some of the graphics half appear—layers are not fully displayed—and sometimes
there are horizontal line artifacts along edges.
Obviously, if I do not employ the "Paste as Picture" function, I'm not seeing this issue regardless of whether the graphic is an Inserted .emf or created in PPT using the Drawing Tools. However, without employing "Paste as Picture" I cannot Crop down graphics
that are rotated to perfect horizontal/vertical edges (thus to "butt up" perfect with the edges of the artboard).
And what is doubly frustrating is I employed the "Paste as Picture" function for a handful of graphics in the same file, and only half or just a few show the graphics issues, while others look perfectly fine (on both Operating Systems!).
Does anyone have any idea of what this is happening? And what would their solution be, different from latter suggestion I made above? Thanks in advance.
