Even when PDF export quality is set to high - the images on the PPT are blurry when using PDF export.  The images are fine in the PPT itself.

Choose Help>Check for Updates and in that dialog, check Join the Office Insider program to get early access to new releases. Then choose Office Insider Slow for fairly well-tested code or Office Insider Fast for advanced features with more bugs. Don't choose the latter on a computer you use to get work done.

We sincerely apologize for the experience you had, due to the recent regression!

This issue has been fixed in Insider Slow channel since build 16.15 (180701) and in Insider Fast channel since build 16.16 (180702), and it should reach the rest of our users soon. Please update your builds and let us know if the problem is not fully resolved.

Again, thank you for helping us improve our product!

Thanks!

Lishan

    Thanks Yoga,

and it's true: the bug/feature is still there in the latest build.

I don't what was fixed with the latest release but this "problem" still persists.

    Hello Gordon,

I'm sorry to say but Yoga did just that.

He was stating that the reason for Powerpoint to dramatically increase the file size was to make sure the quality of the PDF is excellent in terms of resolution. He said it was an active choice by the developer team.

And that's why I was asking why then on a PC there is no such "automatic quality enhancement function". The quality on a PC is perfect but about 5% the size of the PDF generated on the Mac.

To me it seems like it was more of an attitude: we want people to migrate to PC's so let's decrease functionality and increase frustration so people will blame the Mac and migrate to a Windows system and keep buying Microsoft products. You might think this a "conspiracy against Mac users" theory but there are numerous features in PC versions of Office 2016 products that are not available on the Mac version or only for Office 365 customers in conjunction with Mac Office 2016.

You might not share my opinion and you don't have to.
