Customizing the visual backdrop during video calls to enhance privacy or presentation
No - we've got Teams premium as we use Town Hall to brodcast. And it doesn't work for us either even with teams premium licences.

We are trying to upload 1920 x 1080 custom backgrounds and we are getting an error message saying invalid size. Testing other sizes, anything square 1:1 works but gets cropped in the viewer. We also tried 1280 x 800, but same gets cropped. There isn't mention of this update in any of the update logs. What is the correct size, is there a template to follow to know what gets cropped?

Are trying to add backround pictures with Teams application? If you have premium licence, your administrators can make custom background policy in Teams admin center and add pictures to all users. Don't know though, if this 250kB restriction affects that too.
it's not theory for our tenant. all users can add backround pictures that are smaller than 250kB. maybe this restriction differs where your tenant is.
"Invalid size" is about file size, not the resolution. File has to be smaller than 250kB (used to be atleast 1MB) and then you can upload it. Maybe they are promoting Teams Premium with this change.
If that is the case...... then why do the ones I added months ago work? They are the same resolution and file size as the one I just tried to add and got the error. ALl the ones prior to this recent update are working just fine.
