Has there been an update to the dimensions of the teams backgrounds? March 13, 2025

We are trying to upload 1920 x 1080 custom backgrounds and we are getting an error message saying invalid size. Testing other sizes, anything square 1:1 works but gets cropped in the viewer. We also tried 1280 x 800, but same gets cropped. There isn't mention of this update in any of the update logs. What is the correct size, is there a template to follow to know what gets cropped?

    I just went through this with a team member. We were only able to get it to accept images at 800 x 448 and 72ppi in JPG format. Obv the resolution wasn't fabulous but it was better to have the proper image than not. Hopefully this helps some peeps out until Microsoft can figure out the bug :-)

    I went through the "Clear cache" route. It does work, however there is a mistake on the path provided, at least in my case. It has to end with MSTeams, not just Teams.

    Now, let's hope Microsoft will properly fix this.

    Here's what worked for me. Had same issue after getting new computer with Win11.

    Delete the files in MSTeams cache

    1. If Teams is still running, right-click the Teams icon on the taskbar, and then select Quit.
    2. Open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows logo key Image +R.
    3. In the Run dialog box, enter the following path, and then select OK. COPY and PASTE this: %userprofile%\appdata\local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams
    4. Delete all files and folders in the directory.
    5. Restart Teams.

    After restarting teams, I was able to upload my own background images. Hope that helps.

    I am also facing the same issue. Hopefully this is fixed soon.

    On the photos app, there is an option that lets you resize the image. I was able to work around this by resizing it to 1280 by 720.

    We have the same here, all Company Users with Windows Notebooks have the problems.
