New Teams - How do you remove users from the "Pick an account" / Login screen?

There are 2 methods of signing into Teams. When you sign in with an account it asks "Allow my oranization to manage my device". If this is ticked then it adds the account to Windows - Settings->. With this option you can select "Disconnect" on the user and next time Teams trys to sign in it will ask for password.

BUT if the user unticks "Allow my oranization to manage my device" or clicks "No, sign to this app only", there is no option to remove the account from the Application that I can see. So it auto signs in everytime, and there is no account under Emails & Accounts to disconnect!

I have checked the registry and the account is not stored in the registry. But reset the Windows Profile for that user does clear the accouts from Teams, but is a bit of a faff to do everytime time!

Clearing the folders outlined above in %LocalAppData% is global to profiles on the laptop, and removes the primary account your wish to use. And it made windows on the laptop unstable, as searching and task bar seemed to stop functioning. I have checked %AppData%\ROAMING on folders TokenBroker but it starts off with 54 files on a clean working profile and after siging into another account in Teams goes up to 108 files! So god knows what to delete there! IdentityCache folder contain a folder called "1" on a fresh profile but nothing changes after that when signing into another account in Teams!

So I really don;t know where to go from here! Is Microsoft going to fix this?

Hi, I assume Teams is storing the accounts in the same location as the azure login accounts. The accounts must be somewhere in those folders, so it may be worth looking inside those folders and only deleting specific sub folders/files to see if you can retain the Azure logins while removing the teams logins.

While testing "New Teams" I have noticed that the "Pick an account" / Login screen shows the previous users that have logged in, even if they have clicked "sign out".

When clicking on those users, it also logs them in without asking for a password.

After reading other posts here, I have tried deleting the cache here: %LocalAppData%\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe

And also deleting the data in this folder: %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy

Doing this has stopped the accounts from being logged in without a password, but the accounts still appear on the "Pick an account" / Login screen.

They do not show in classic teams or any other application and there are no additional accounts in the "Access Work and School" windows setting page.

I have also tried to fully remove and reinstall Teams but the accounts are still visible.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

I have found a possible solution:

Delete:
%LocalAppData%\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe
%LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\OneAuth
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\TokenBroker
%LocalAppData%\Microsoft\IdentityCache

Then restart the PC.

This will sign out all Microsoft products but does remove the users from the login list and removed their login details, meaning a password is required to login to Teams.

Unfortnatelly this removes the Azure login accounts too, so I when restart the laptop it thinks it needs setting up again.

Just removing %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\OneAuth does nothing, as Teams recreates this folder from other sources.

The New Teams however does not show logged in accont on another user profile, so I believe its profile related and deleteing folders in LocalAppData is not going to acheivet this?

I completed these steps and was able to successfully remove the old user from appearing in the sign-in screen; however, I am no longer able to sign into my current Teams work account.

I believe there was something removed that may need to be added back in. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the New MS Teams application, but still receiving the "Something went wrong. [1001]" Error message.

I tried various methods here without success until I combined various methods together. A bit of "a belt and braces" approach. Or a scatter gun approach and hoping something worked. Which it did. I now need a more elegant script and gradually remove the unnecessary commands. I know I have del and ren commands which probably conflict.

Anyway, this worked on a test laptop. When I open Teams now, its like a brand new install without any accounts remembered.

I can't take all the credit or blame. Like I said, I copied parts of other scripts here and other parts I found on other forums......

This runs as a batch file in the startup folder of the generic account that logs into Windows on a shared conference laptop.

That's why we don't want individual users' Teams accounts appearing in the accounts to choose.
