how to hide the chat panel in teams?

I like to keep my teams small so previously, with 80% zoom and the teams window as small as possible, I realized that the chat panel would auto hide and it would show only when I hover my mouse over Chat.

However, recently chat panel would stay open so it is taking up quite a space in my small teams window. Does anyone know how to make this chat panel auto hide itself?

Only way to make it hide is if I make the zoom 115% which is ridiculously large for me...

Going back to Classic gives the ability to hide the chat list, however, the Classic version doesn't work for those who have to use 2 work accounts. The new version gave this ability but then took away the ability to auto-hide the chat list...STUPID!!

    Please correct this immediately!

I've been on New Teams for over a year now, and it has ALWAYS hid when I had my Teams window shrunken to the smallest it can be. As of the last update or two since maybe early August I was not able to get the chat toolbar to auto-hide. This was changed by an update from Microsoft, seriously! Back in August when it first happened, I found a thread on the Support pages here that mentioned zooming in with pressing ctrl and then zooming with the mouse scroll wheel. That worked, I scrolled in one or two times and it finally went away. Yesterday, I got another Teams update and now I can't even get it to work off with zooming in with the scroll wheel, the chat toolbar remains open all the time. I DO NOT WANT THE TEAMS WINDOW FULL SCREEN, PERIOD! I only have dual monitors, not 3, and I have the internet opened with Outlook, and Teams. I cannot have Outlook shrunken because of my calendar. I'm an IT guy, I need visibility on all 3 windows. Forcing the Chat toolbar of pinned chats opened makes it a real pain to see the chats from others in each pinned chat. This is not ok, look at the amount of people replying to this change, and again I will reiterate, THIS WAS NOT SOMETHING THE SOFTWARE DID PRIOR TO THE PAST TWO UPDATES! NOT AT ALL, THE CHAT TOOLBAR AUTO-HID, AND THIS IS A CHANGE YOU GUYS MADE!

Seems to be working for me now after a Windows update today. I am not sure if MS Teams also updated - the versioning is unclear.
