how to hide the chat panel in teams?

I like to keep my teams small so previously, with 80% zoom and the teams window as small as possible, I realized that the chat panel would auto hide and it would show only when I hover my mouse over Chat.

However, recently chat panel would stay open so it is taking up quite a space in my small teams window. Does anyone know how to make this chat panel auto hide itself?

Only way to make it hide is if I make the zoom 115% which is ridiculously large for me...

I too am having the same issue. I have EVEN had my companies IT department try to help me. The option given to me was to delete the cookies as well as close all of Teams including anything running in the background by way of Task Manager.

That solution worked for about a day, then Teams reverted back to continuously displaying the chat panel. I too have VERY LITTLE SPACE to work with on my monitor and find I am scrolling way longer than necessary to see a conversation with other co-workers.

This chat panel takes up way too much room on the Teams app. Someone really needs to fix this, and fix this soon. If it stays this way, I am going to end up with Carpal tunnel from spending so much time scrolling. I just don't understand why they would change something that works so well.

IF IT'S NOT BROKE.... DON'T FIX IT!!!!

Agree with this - and having the same experience! Auto-hide chat list was logical and sensible - and just click 'Chat' icon to bring it out again

It really messes with my screen layout having to enlarge Teams window enough to accommodate the Chat list - while also having enough room to see whatever chat conversation I am currently monitoring

Microsoft - surely this is quick fix - As it's just reverting to the previous Auto-hide of Chat list?
