how to hide the chat panel in teams?

I like to keep my teams small so previously, with 80% zoom and the teams window as small as possible, I realized that the chat panel would auto hide and it would show only when I hover my mouse over Chat.

However, recently chat panel would stay open so it is taking up quite a space in my small teams window. Does anyone know how to make this chat panel auto hide itself?

Only way to make it hide is if I make the zoom 115% which is ridiculously large for me...

I already tried this based on another reply and it didn't work because it took me back to an older version of Teams and however my employer has it setup it automatically switches it back to the newest version where the chat won't go away.

    THE FIX!!!!!

    From Windows 11…

    Click on Start, then Settings

On left Navigation pane click Apps, then click on Installed Apps

Find Microsoft Teams in list, then click the 3-dots on right, then Advanced Options

Scroll down to Reset. Click Repair first, then Reset.

These steps should restore the auto-hide functionality without any data loss.

This is unacceptable. I have ADHD focus problems, and Microsoft just added 10 tons of word vomit to my sensory overload every time I need to use Teams for work, which is often.

I've taken 2 web design classes in high school. This "feature change" appears to be at the quality level I'd expect from a high school class. Extremely unprofessional.

Microsoft will probably partition this "feature" behind a higher premium paywall, as is their modus operandi these days.

I Am MORE than mildly annoyed w/ this error in Teams.
In addition to the new Teams being too big of a window we now have to see the Chat list of our contacts and teams? This is a complete waste of space and reduces productivity.
