how to hide the chat panel in teams?

I like to keep my teams small so previously, with 80% zoom and the teams window as small as possible, I realized that the chat panel would auto hide and it would show only when I hover my mouse over Chat.

However, recently chat panel would stay open so it is taking up quite a space in my small teams window. Does anyone know how to make this chat panel auto hide itself?

Only way to make it hide is if I make the zoom 115% which is ridiculously large for me...

    Thank you for this! Can't say I'm like the zoom at 115% but it is definitely better than the chat menu taking up all that space in the teams window.

    thank you for this resolution! It's kind of silly how long the font is but it is definitely better than having the chat list visible.

    Thank you for taking the time to bring this to light feeling lost. Currently using the 115% zoom workaround suggested in other comments below. Microsoft please look into this issue. As an IT professional, I've been asked about it several times the last week and want to give users a resolution.

    I've found a temporary solution for this - by setting the zoom level to 115% in the 3 dot menu next to your profile icon, the auto-hiding feature returns

    Thank you, it'll do for now. Hopefully they see this update as a mistake.
