Why in Teams you are unable to copy the time stamp and name of the person anymore.

I had this issue investingated last week. Here is the response from Microsoft:

I have shared the video with the senior team, and they have confirmed that this is indeed a new update in Microsoft Teams. It was a feature requested on the user feedback page.
This update is being rolled out to all tenants globally, not just to your users.

Additionally, some customers are advocating for this to be an optional feature, and hopefully, that will be implemented as well.

Dumbest change on the planet. Original requester clearly not an IT frontline worker or understands the impacts to frontline workers. In an age when MS pushes hard for Teams adoption as a collaboration platform, when everything from projects to support is managed through teams, and logs for documentation are a thing, this should never have been implemented without fully understanding the impacts. Total lack of validation continues to be a MS thing, and they really need to pull their heads out. What you should have done MS is implemented a feature change for both options before killing the one then telling us to wait for a future update to add back what was already there. Yea that's logical. This is not proper project scoping and says volumes about your complete lack of understanding the impacts on your customers before implementing change or it simply says you are clueless when it comes to change management. In the meantime, capturing these conversations have to be done the old more cumbersome fashioned way through screenshots. Brilliant move. Simply roll it back then implement a feature change that provides the option for both. This is not rocket science, and it removes more and more confidence in the PGs at MS day by day.

Allow me to clarify Melissa.

I think the feature you referred to was annoying when only trying to copy one reply for a specific thing in that line like a URL or a date and time.

If you were trying to copy JUST the URL or JUST the date&time, it would append a massive chunk of text you then had to backspace.

when people are copying entire chat logs, they would like to have the log of who said what/when attached as well.

We would, in fact, like BOTH features.

1. Copying multiple replies of the same log should give us a back and forth with timestamps.
2. Copying a part of one reply should let us just copy that part.

Even a button to make it optional would be great.

Please fix this. Being able to copy/paste the message with the timestamp was great. Lots IT people use this feature for documentation purposes.

I was expecting to see the name, date, and time like normal when I was copying a message. I had also found it useful to have it included on other communication pieces.

A workaround that worked for me is using the web version and copying the text from a MS Teams message like normal and it worked.
