Why in Teams you are unable to copy the time stamp and name of the person anymore.

The "workaround" I posted was never intended to let Microsoft off the hook.

Their inability to maintain feature continuity between versions is inexcusable. The July update that breaks the CONTROL-C with names and timestamps has caused me daily trouble.

I was trying to help others, but I have learned now.

I did not test every scenario.

Instead of asking me, you can use my tip to see if it helps you. It helped me in the isolated test I did.

If you are talking about the summary lines and sender + time sent being on two separate lines, Outlook email (likely Word too, and any editor with wildcards) Find / Replace can take clean that up. Yeah, it's kind of a slow-down, but at least it works. (Plus, once you enter the Find and Replace pattern in Outlook, the dropdowns should let you pick either if you have to do this for multiple chat copy/pastes.)

Here is my .txt file notes on what to use for that:

Find (turn ON options > use wildcards!):

^13[^32-^126]@ by [A-Z][a-zA-Z -]@, [A-Z][a-zA-Z ()]@^13

Replace with:

^13

Append the time with the user who said it (remove the newline after the name). Example:

"Lastname, Firstname

3:23 PM

"

Find (just the time portion of it and surrounding newlines):

^13([1-9]{1,2}):([0-9]{2}) ([AP]M)^13

Replace with (note there is a preceding space inserted to separate the time from Firstname on the previous line):

" \1:\2 \3^13" Remove the quotes. I just put them there to show the preceding space.

You'll have to find the right pattern for 24-hour time.

This is will not be corrected as it is a design feature, not a bug.
