Why in Teams you are unable to copy the time stamp and name of the person anymore.

@A Ja Pramshafer I have taken a screenshot and pasted into OneNote, then right-click and copy text from image.

You should then confirm it copied correctly as the OCR may miss some things.

Could also open message in new window and use a scrolling screen-shot capture, then OCR it. (You'll have to research which tool you want to use for that. Greenshot is one I've heard of.)

Instead, I recommend, open the conversation in a new window. Click just above the line separating the conversation/text/message from the people you're chatting with, and then do Ctrl+a, Ctrl+c to copy all.

Paste wherever then clean up what you don't want.

It also works if you click on something like "------- Yesterday ----------", or "------- Last Read -------".

On the Previous page (my post on 20241216) I posted how to eliminate the summary " by " lines and how to append the time to the sender's name.

P.S. The copy also works for a chat within the main Teams window but opening the conversation in a new window helps eliminate more unwanted text, like the list of all the other people you're chatting with.

UGH! Do they just want us to forward messages? Some messages have data that should NOT be shared when I cannot modify the forwarded message. Do they want to make this product useless? What am I to do now? Take a screen shot to prove the sender, plus the date and time, then smudge out information that should not be shared? This gets more frustrating by the update.

They never did fix it, and today it's even worse!

Now you can't hold down the mouse button to copy and paste the time stamp.

Ever since this update to supposedly remove clutter it has created a nightmare for me where I have a lengthy chat log I provide to my usergroup and no one who says what. I hate Microsoft for this. You can't even highlight all the chat in the chat log to copy, it chooses how much of it gets highlighted and never preserves the point you started off with highlighting so you have to find the point where you left off. NIGHTMARE. I tell the 2000 users in the group every month how horrible Microsoft is for this. Zoom for 10 years automatically sends you an email with the chat log. No option for that in Teams, only 2 hours worth of worth to copy and paste. Co-Pilot can't even understand the problem I am asking it for help on. I curse Microsoft for making my life hell!

Yeah. That's way better than having to delete some lines.
