Unable to collapse the left side panel in teams anymore

As of yesterday, the display of my teams will no longer collapse the left side panel. I've tried settings, restarting the app, and restarting the computer. It used to open after selecting one of the options next to it, like chat or teams and then it would automatically close after I selected what I wanted from those options. How do I get it to collapse again?

this is what happened to me, I had it fixed then when I got here yesterday morning it went back to not collapsing. I've uninstalled and installed which fixed it and then when teams automatically switched to the new version it went back to doing the same thing.

If you have teams classic installed (which I did), delete it and then just launch the teams app. That fixed the issue for me. It appears that classic was clashing with the new one..which like most mentioned stated recently. Started a few days ago for me. But this fixed it..hope it helps!! 😎

TYSM! This worked! For anyone asking if files will be deleted, mine did not.
