Unable to collapse the left side panel in teams anymore

As of yesterday, the display of my teams will no longer collapse the left side panel. I've tried settings, restarting the app, and restarting the computer. It used to open after selecting one of the options next to it, like chat or teams and then it would automatically close after I selected what I wanted from those options. How do I get it to collapse again?

I also just started experiencing this issue on Mac. Very annoying -- I basically have wasted space on my screen because I'm forced to keep the pane open.

I want the pane to collapse and reopen when I hover my mouse near it like it used to. Such a better workflow.

    Please fix.

Same issue: Mac M1 - Microsoft Teams version 24215.1002.3039.5089.

MS should stop making changes to its UI control that users still want.
If you want to fix it for other users who want to keep their panel open, be more mindful of the other side of the users who don't want the change and at least provide the option to manually open/close the sidebar. I'm a software developer and this is such a basic thinking process when you make changes to your products considering what issues the changes may cause to the users.

MS is such a huge company and I don't understand why you guys make this kind of issue all the time when applying changes to apps no matter if it is Teams or any other of your products, especially Teams and Outlook when both apps are daily used for numerous universities and organisations for work and education. Be ashamed of your reputation and the size of the organisation.

When there is any alternative out, I will definitely move to the product. I'm so sick of MS making this kind of beginner issue all the time.

As other people have mentioned, the Reset fix is only temporary. If you leave the machine so it locks then log back in, the problem re-appears (I am using Windows 11). Also, this morning, the Teams app automatically displayed the sidebar again out of the blue without me doing anything...

I tried messing around with zoom or the search bar but no luck. Someone else mentioned an option in Settings, although that doesn't appear to be available.

I even tried using the "Update and Restart Teams" option under "Settings" menu and that brings the sidebar back, so I then had to reset it again.
